10 mountain climbers in the French Alps are missing after an avalanche swept down a slope near Mont Blanc.
Helicopters, rescuers and specially-trained dogs have begun the search. At least eight people, five French mountaineers and three Italians, were rescued and taken to hospital in Chamonix. Some were dug out of the snow by rescuers while others managed to free themselves. The avalanche apparently was unleashed by a block of glacial ice above the climbers' camp.
